Religious but Lost

In Romans 2, Paul turns from condemning a broken world to confronting the religious and moral person who assumes they are safe with God. This chapter dismantles false confidence rooted in morality, religious privilege and outward obedience. Paul reminds us that God's judgement is impartial, that knowing truth without living it, only increases accountability and that external religion without heart transformation dishonors God. Romans 2 prepares us for the gospel by showing why everyone, especially the respectable, needs saving. Only a transformed heart, shaped by God's Spirit, can make us right with him.
