What's Wrong with the World: The Heart of the Problem

Why does the world feel so broken? In Romans 1, Paul takes us into God’s courtroom to diagnose the problem beneath the surface. Before grace can be understood, sin must be exposed. Paul shows that humanity’s deepest issue is not ignorance but the suppression of truth—rejecting God’s authority while enjoying His gifts. When worship is redirected from the Creator, cultural decay follows, leading to distorted desires, broken relationships, and confused moral judgment. The problem is not merely “out there” but within the human heart. This sobering passage prepares us to see why the gospel is not optional—it is our only hope.
