Good morning. Have you considered the promise given us that when God’s people of this earth are engaged in righteous, genuine, worthy worship of our Mighty God that we are joining the worship of the heavenly realm? I can’t say that I completely understand how this works, for the ways of the spiritual realm are above and beyond me, but we are told that the voices of the angels and all beings of heaven hear our voices of worship and may join their voices with our own, creating a harmony that bridges the realms of our existence.
For today’s thought, on this beautiful day of worship, I ask that you reflect with me on this reference to heavenly worship found in Revelation 7:9-12:
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”
Consider with me as well these words of Jesus in Luke 15:10 telling us about the angels of heaven joining us in celebration when a sinner comes to God: “In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Worship well today and know that when your heart is given to the Lord in “worship in Spirit and in truth” our voices are joined by heavenly songs. Today we imagine what that would sound like. One day, we will be caught up in that union of worship as our spirits are made one with those voices of heaven. Oh the glory of that harmony!
Come Lord Jesus!
