Touch Not the Glory 03-19-23

Good morning. May this day of worship draw you ever more near to the heart of God, and to the wonder of His glory.

God’s glory is what worship is about. The glory is all His, and it belongs to Him alone. It is easy to wonder what it would be like to play an instrument like those talented persons who share in our worship, or to sing with remarkable ability, or to speak or to pray or to do any number of things we see others do in praise and worship. But never forget that while those servants earn our appreciation, to God be the glory! No matter the gifts and talents we see displayed by those who lead and inspire worship, the glory is given to God and to God alone.

We read in Isaiah 42:8 “I am the Lord; that is my name!
I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.

All glory belongs to the Lord our God and to Him alone.

There is poem which speaks to this truth, that no one may lay claim to the glory of God but God alone. It is called Touch Not the Glory

Have you been called to serve where others tried and failed, and with God’s help and strength your efforts have prevailed? Touch not the glory!

Have you some special gift, some riches you can share, or are you called of God to intercessory prayer? Touch not the glory!

Has God appointed you to some great and noble cause, or put you where you hear the sound of man’s applause? Touch not the glory!

A watching world still waits to see what can be done through the one who touches not that which is God’s alone. Touch not the glory, touch not the glory, touch not the glory for it belongs to God!

As we worship, we appreciate all who share what the Lord gives through them, but to none be the glory, it is for God alone!

It matters not if the world has heard, or approves, or understands; the only applause we’re meant to seek is the applause of nail scarred hands.

To God be the glory, great things He has done…and is doing…and will do.
