Good morning. There is a verse of scripture that I would like to share with you as we consider the joy of Christmas and of the coming New Year.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20
When we consider the gifts that are given and received in honor of Christmas, we know that the One gift that is above all gifts is the gift of Jesus Christ, born that night long ago in Bethlehem. For God so loved the word that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever will believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
What a gift He is! Jesus is the “Yes!” to every promise of God. Through Jesus, we pronounce Amen! to the glory of the Father.
Jesus, the “Yes!” To God’s promise of life, joy, hope, peace, love, redemption, freedom, friendship and family with God.
Jesus, the “Yes!” To God’s promise that when the time was right, He would bring light into the world, piercing the darkness.
Jesus, the “Yes!” To God’s promise of a King to surpass all kings. He is our king who reigns in glory and righteousness, and His reign is eternal.
Jesus, the “Yes!” To God’s promise of salvation. Through Abraham, through Moses, through King David God promised that He would establish His people and that it would be through them that the Savior of the world would be born.
Jesus, the “Yes!” To God’s promise of victory. Victory over evil; victory over sin; victory even over death itself.
Jesus, the “Yes!” Of every promise that God has made to mankind. He is our greatest gift, our greatest hope, our greatest joy, our greatest certainty. He is our Yes! of God.
Begin the New Year with a resounding “Yes!”, for Jesus is the answer we need to every situation that will arise.
