The King of Kings 12-27-22

Good morning. We have just enjoyed the celebration of Christmas, the coming of our “Kings of Kings”.

Do you ever wonder what it would be like if our country was ruled by a monarch? The English recently have gone through the process of saying goodbye to Queen Elizabeth, and then, upon her passing, the crown passed immediately to the heir, King Charles III. To be the British King or Queen is a position that holds great honor, but not as much power as once was true. However, one thing the person who sits upon the throne of England enjoys is respect. To suggest anything less than respect for that person is considered boorish, and even treasonous. Even the media treat the King or Queen with respect and deference. (shocking isn’t it?)

It doesn’t seem as though we citizens on this side of the great pond adhere to such rules. Our leaders, particularly our political leaders, seem to be the source of scorn, jokes, and all manner of verbal abuse. This seems to be true on both sides of the political aisle. It isn’t much of a wonder why 2/3 of Americans say they are displeased with our country’s leadership when 2nd guessing and disrespecting them has become something of a national pastime.

Do I have you pining for a king? Someone to love and respect, to honor and uphold, one you would be willing to offer service and sacrifice, adoration and praise?

Consider 1 Timothy 6:15-16 God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and mighty power forever. Amen.

I have my opinions regarding our politicians, no matter which party they represent. But I try to remember the One who truly is “my King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, whose reign is without end, and whose glory is not subject to the fickle will of people. His rein is eternal. His power is absolute. His glory is beyond imagination. His love is personal, for He loves you and He loves me, and He calls us His own.

May our spirits bow in humble adoration to our King of Kings and Lord of Lords, this day and every day.
