That Beautiful Song 4-12-22

Good morning. If you were suddenly put on the spot and asked “what is the most beautiful song you have ever heard” what would you say? Is there an old favorite from your youth that you still find yourself singing in the shower when you know no one else can hear? Is it a favorite chorus or hymn that has a powerful message that always moves your heart and spirit? Is it perhaps more private, a song that you have shared with the love of your life, and it has become “our song”?

There is a song written by a composer with whom you may not be familiar. His name is Ethan the Ezrahite. His song is recorded in Psalm 89, or perhaps I should say that his favorite song is recorded there. Psalm 89 begins:

Your love, God, is my song, and I’ll sing it!
I’m forever telling everyone how faithful you are.
I’ll never quit telling the story of your love—
    how you built the cosmos
    and guaranteed everything in it.
Your love has always been our lives’ foundation,
your fidelity has been the roof over our world.
Ps. 89 (the MSG)

Isn’t that a beautiful thought? The love of God is the song upon our heart, and it is a song that we absolutely MUST sing! It is a song that tells everyone about God’s faithfulness. It is a song the singer never tires of singing, for it is the story of true love. It is a song that celebrates the wonder of creation and the certainty of God.

The love of God is our song. Now that is a thought that is worth singing!
