Good morning. Thanksgiving is more than a day to celebrate, I think that all Christian people realize that truth. Thanksgiving is a state of mind, heart, and spirit. Thanksgiving is a spiritual truth that guides and guards us. Thanksgiving is a constant reality for all who know the love of God and celebrate His goodness. Thanksgiving is a promise as well as a fulfillment of promise. Thanksgiving is a blessing to God who receives our grateful praise and to us as we lift up that grateful praise. Thanksgiving is a feast of plenty, a celebration of blessing, a gathering of love, a joining of spirits, a prayer of joy, and a promise of praise. Please read the following scriptures and consider their truth for your Thanksgiving today:
Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered, O offspring of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones! 1 Chronicles 16:8-13
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17
Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:13-15
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
I would like to share this prayer of Thanksgiving:
Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have
done, and all that you are doing, for us. We thank you for the splendor of
creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life,
and for the mystery of love.
We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for
the loving care which surrounds us on every side.
We thank you for supplying tasks which demand our best
efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy
and delight us.
We thank you also for those disappointments and failures
that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.
Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the
truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast
obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying,
through which he overcame death; and for his rising to life
again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom for today and for eternity.
Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know Him and
make Him known; and through Him, at all times and in all
places, may we give thanks to you in all things. Amen.
May we lift to God our grateful praise in Thanksgiving, today and every day!
