Good morning. It is a wonderful day, a day of special opportunity. We are able to welcome the New Year in the best possible way, for it is our day to come together in worship. For my first thought for this New Year I would like to share with you some simple words of prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for the opportunity of new beginnings. This day, the first day of this New Year, I set aside every failure at the foot of your cross, oh Lord. This day, this first day of our New Year, I commit myself to you anew, oh Lord. I embrace the potential this fresh year brings. I celebrate the opportunities that You will bring to me. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of new beginnings.
Open the eyes of my heart Lord Jesus, open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You Lord. In all of your glory, in all of your wonder, in all of your power, I want to see You.
Oh, Father, I bow before Your throne of grace. I leave with You all my fears and failures. I leave with You all my selfish desires. I give You my heart Lord, in humble adoration, I give You my heart.
I worship You Lord. In all of Your fullness, in all of Your reality, in all of Your power, I worship You. Bowing in humble adoration, yielding my will and accepting Your way, I worship You, oh Lord.
I pray for your blessing, Lord Jesus. I pray for your wisdom, oh Lord. I pray for your love to be in greater evidence in my life throughout this year, oh Father God.
In your Holy Name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
May this New Year be filled with blessings and joy.
