Perfectly Imperfect? 10-31-22

Good morning. God is perfect, don’t you agree? I would say that anyone who suggests otherwise has not come to know the truth and the nature of God Almighty.

But there is one area where God has chosen imperfection. If there is one behavior of God that would seem to be lacking, it is his memory. God’s memory is, by force of will,  imperfect, and there is a wonderful perfection that is secured in that truth.

We read this in Hebrews 8:12 “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sin no more.”

In Isaiah 43:25 we read “It is I, I Am He, who blots out your transgressions by my own will, and I will not remember your sins.”

Oh, the wonderous power of God. Not only is God able to know all things, He is able to forget completely what He has chosen to forget!

When God chooses to forget our sins, they are cast away out of existence. When God chooses to forget it isn’t simply as though they never happened, it is the truth of it that they no longer exist. Not even in memory.

Praise God for the power of his will, the power to choose to forget. In that power is the wonder of God’s forgiveness.
