Good morning. The following story may not be true
Three professionals met at a luncheon with each of them trying to impress the other two with their importance. In time, the discussion turned to which of their professions should be honored as being the first. The surgeon said that since Eve was created by taking a rib from Adam, and that was obviously a surgical procedure, his profession as a surgeon was first. The engineer said, “Wait just a minute, if we are going all the way back to creation my profession was the first since God created everything by bringing order out of chaos and that takes engineering.” The last of them said “Not so fast. As you know, I am a politician.” “So?” the others asked. The politician replied, “Well who do you suppose created the chaos?”
Okay, that wasn’t all that great of a joke. But could we take a moment today and think about what it means for God to have created all things from the unformed void, the “chaos” that existed before He brought form and order.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.Genesis 1:1-2
Those verses begin the Word of God. In that beginning God created order, and beauty, and it was good, which means that it pleased Him.
But has the chaos ended? Of course not. Sin brings its own kind of chaos into the world. Sin brings with it the destruction of God’s beautiful perfection. What a shame. What a tragedy. What a loss! How can the Creator endure such an intrusion into His glory?
He did not and He does not. Instead, the Creator provided the answer: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
In the beginning there was the Word, Jesus. He was with God and He was God. He was Creator then and He is Creator now. He was the Master over the darkness then and He is the Master who brings HIs victory of light and life over the darkness now.
If your world seems dark, chaotic, and troubled, give it all to the Lord of light. Let Him bring peace to what is broken, light to what is darkened, hope to what is miserable, and love to what is hateful. Let Jesus bring order into your chaos today.
