Give to the Lord… 04-30-23

Good morning. God bless you today as you worship Him is Spirit and in truth.

What is the appropriate way to express joy, satisfaction, and appreciation in the midst of worship? Is it fitting to share an “Amen!” when we feel stirred to do so? Is it permissible to applaud a song or activity that moves our spirit? Is there a spiritual reason why so many Christian people are reluctant to clap in time to a song? Is it better to sit back with folded hands and keep such outward expressions to ourselves? Please reflect with me this morning on a few verses from the Psalms which speak of our attitude before the Lord in worship:

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
     Serve the Lord with gladness!
    Come into his presence with singing!  Psalm 100:1-2

Then I will go to the altar of God,
    to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
    O God, my God. Psalm 43:4

Clap your hands, all peoples!
    Shout to God with loud songs of joy! Psalm 47:1

Sing to the Lord a new song,
    for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
    have worked salvation for him. Psalm 98:1

What is proper and fitting as we come to the Lord in worship? I am not sure that any expression of praise is too great for Him.

Worship well today and celebrate your faith with joy.
