Good morning. We have all had those moments when it is too late to take back something we said, impossible to undo something we have done, or to unspend money we later came to realize was wasted on whatever it was we spent it on. Too late. Those are difficult words to speak and often reflect feelings of regret and sorrow.
I have read what is sometimes titled as “Six Rules for Life”. There are different versions, but they do contain some thoughts worthy of consideration. I would like to include some scriptures that I feel speak to the ideas that are shared:
1. Before you pray – believe. Devote yourselves to prayer, being alert for God’s answers and be thankful. Colossians 4:2
2. Before you speak – listen. You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger; for your anger does not produce God’s righteousness. James 1:19-20
3. Before you spend – earn. It is the lazy person who easily goes into debt. Consider the ways of the ant and learn from them. Ants have no ruler, no boss, and no one telling them what to do. But in the summer, they work hard to gather what they will need, and they save it. When winter comes, they have plenty. Proverbs 6:6-7
4. Before you write – think. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:17
5. Before you quit – try. Let us not grow weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
6. Before you die – live. “The thief comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come so that you will have life and have it in complete fullness.” John 10:10
God bless your day with His wisdom and peace.
