Beautiful 09-27-23

Good morning. We have had a few days of rain, finally. Our area has suffered through drought conditions this summer, and even though these rains will not help the crops in the fields, they are a blessing as the needed moisture provides a level of recuperation. As the skies clear from the rain, we are beginning to see the changes in the colors of the leaves on our trees. Yes, it is an annual event, but it never gets old. Beauty is wonderful, always.

We read in Romans 1:19-20  since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

What may we learn about our Creator this time of year? The seasons are changing, so do we learn that our Creator changes? No. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that our Lord remains the same, unchanging, forever. Do we learn about the time for harvest and bringing in the blessings He shares with us? Yes, that is certainly a truth to remember each fall. But is there a greater lesson to learn regarding the heart of God this time of year than that of His bounty, His blessing, and His beauty? It is hard to imagine what that lesson may be. He is bountiful, rich in blessings, and His beauty is revealed throughout His creation in many spectacular ways. Ours is indeed an Awesome God!

I appreciate these words from J.I. Packer, in his book “Knowing God”.

“How can we turn our knowledge about God into knowledge of God? The rule for doing this is simple but demanding. It is that we turn each Truth that we learn about God into matter for meditation before God, leading to prayer and praise to God.”

May the beauty of this fall inspire your thinking. May your thinking mature so that you not only seek to know about God, but that you yearn to know God. To come to know Him in all His glory, in all His power, in all His beauty. Now that is worthy of our notice as we embrace the beauty around us today.
