Adoration 12-17-23

Good morning. “O, Come Let Us Adore Him!” We sing the words this time of year and enjoy the truth of the call. Yes! We should be coming together to adore our Lord and to rejoice in the blessing of His birth! Yes! Let’s worship together and adore Him!

Our God, the Creator of all that is. Our God, the power that presides over all that is. Our God, whose very nature is defined in a single word: Love. Beloved, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1John 4:7-8

We know the reason that God sent His Son Jesus into this world, and that reason is another revelation of God’s nature, His love: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever will believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I once read these definitions of love: Love is when another person’s happiness and wellbeing is necessary for your own happiness and wellbeing.

Agape love: Agape love is when another person’s happiness and wellbeing is more important to you than your own happiness and wellbeing.

God’s love is agape love. Our happiness and wellbeing are so important to Him that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to come to us, and to die for us.

O come let us adore Him! Let us do so with worship that is righteous and worthy. May we express our adoration for the One who loves us so much that He would sacrifice His own peace, happiness, and wellbeing to ensure ours.
