Good morning. Jesus and His disciples were walking and came upon a man who was blind from birth. The disciples asked who was to blame, meaning whose sin was responsible for the man’s condition. Jesus explained that neither was true, and then He told them that this was an opportunity for God’s glory to be displayed.
Jesus said, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. John 9:3-7
For our thought today, please consider this:
It wasn’t the circumstance that mattered, it was God in the midst of those circumstances.
It wasn’t the words it was God speaking those words.
It wasn’t the mud it was the finger of God in the mud.
It wasn’t the medicinal effect of mud on the eyes, it was the will of God to heal the blind.
It wasn’t the Pool of Siloam that washed away the blindness, it was willing and faithful obedience to the command of Christ that allowed his eyes to be opened.
It wasn’t that the manger in the stable that was holy, it was the Son of God laid in that manger who was holy.
It wasn’t the wood of the cross or the rule of the Romans, it was the grace of God and His love for us that put His Holy One in that terrible place.
Whatever our circumstances, our challenges, our predicament, they are not what is most important. What is most important is that our Savior is with us in every circumstance, through every challenge, overcoming every predicament.
“Listen closely, I am with you always, to the very end of time.” Matthew 28:20
