Good morning. This is one of the precious days of our year when our thoughts are directed to those very special people who embody sacrificial love. I am speaking of our godly mothers, and we lift up our thanks to our heavenly Father for each of you!
Proverbs 31:10-31 is an oft read passage on Mother’s Day. It is a celebration of those women who have loved powerfully and sacrificially to bring blessing after blessing into the lives of those around them. Proverbs 31:25-31 shares, I think, the heart of it:
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
To all of our mothers, thank you. For your love when we were not as worthy, thank you. For your patient care and tenderness, thank you. For wisdom and careful instruction, thank you. For showing us the truth of Christ’s love, thank you. For your sacrifices of which we were never made aware, thank you. For being more than a mother and for being a mom, thank you.
