Good morning. I love the Springtime. Winter has finally lost its grip and the green of new life is everywhere we look. This year, I suppose because we had a little later than usual arrival of Springtime, it seems as though the growth rate is accelerated. We have a cherry tree in our back yard that a few days ago was struggling to produce leaves and today it is covered with blossoms. The grass that was barely “greening up” my yard a last week needed to be mowed Monday. Things are growing like mad!
Philippians 1:9-11 is a prayer of the apostle Paul: And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
It is his apostolic prayer that our love would experience an accelerated growth rate. Not only is our love to grow “more and more”, but it is also to blossom in wonderful and practical ways. Our love is to abound in knowledge and deeper insight. We are to grow in our ability to discern what is best, and pure, and without blame. We are to grow up in ways that are increasingly bearing the fruit of righteousness. All of this empowered growth rate is to the glory and praise of the Father.
As you take a look around and see the green of new growth, take a moment to pray that your love will experience a powerful growth spurt as well.
