Easter 04-09-23

Good morning. May God’s blessings be yours on this precious Easter Sunday.

We hold close to our hearts the cross where Jesus died, but what power would that cross have for us if not for the resurrection?

The stone was rolled away, and the guards lay on the ground overcome with the moment’s power. Women came to do their duty and care for His dead form. But it was not to be. The angel said it best: “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Matthew 24:5

Would the emotions of these women upon hearing such words have been of joy? Or would confusion have reigned over them? A couple of them left in confusion, the others hurried to tell those closest to Jesus what they had seen, but they were not believed.

But, that is the purpose of the day, isn’t it, to come to a place of absolute belief that Jesus has conquered death. To understand that death, the one thing most feared in all of life, is now put in its place. Death has been defeated by our Savior.

It was supernatural love which took Jesus to the cross. It was supernatural power that raised Him from the tomb. It is the supernatural Spirit who joins us with His presence now.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. Luke 24:1-8

God bless you in worship this wonderful Easter morning!
