Good morning. I have always had something of a fondness for history, with perhaps an unusual interest in the history surrounding World War II. While there are books written about the valor of D-Day; the taking of Iwo Jima; the sacrifices made by people on “the home front”, and hundreds of other worthy topics, one of the critically important but under-reported facets of that war is summed up with the word, “logistics”. In this context that word typically refers to needed supplies reaching the people and places where they are required in a timely and functional way. Wars are often won and lost over the problem of logistics.
In World War II it was critically important that the United States get needed supplies of every kind to our allies in Europe. The obvious problem was that puddle of water called the Atlantic Ocean. It took thousands of ships carrying millions of tons of supplies to get the job done, and it was a treacherous path filled with danger that lay between those in need and those willing to supply those needs.
There was danger because there was an enemy dedicated to sinking every ship possible to prevent those supplies from getting where they needed to go.
In World War II the job got done. The ships got through, or at least enough of them to win the day. There was incredible loss and sacrifice, unbelievable problems of logistics to solve, but they made it happen.
We too are in a war. We too are in constant need of supplies. We too have an enemy dedicated to preventing what is needed from getting through. We too face a daily dilemma of logistics.
As Christian people we have our daily needs. We need love, confidence, wisdom, hope, joy, strength, healing, guidance, deliverance, forgiveness, and much, much more.
What we need every day comes from the Lord who loves us, and He is willing to supply our needs. Praise God!
As for those logistics, how to receive the supplies that God is constantly sending our way, there are two primary conduits: prayer and the Word of God.
Regarding prayer, I would remind you of 1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
Regarding His Word: For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Be well supplied today. Know that it is God’s desire not to see you survive, but to see you prosper!
