Good morning, and God bless you as lift your heart and soul to heaven and worship today!
Theologian and Christian author Richard Foster had this to say about worship: “If worship does not change us, it has not been worship. To stand before the Holy One of eternity is to change. Worship begins in holy expectancy; it ends in holy obedience.”
I believe that this is a valuable thought, that worship should be, and is absolutely intended to be, a changing experience. We should not leave worship the same as we were before we entered into worship.
Worship means songs of praise and celebration; prayers featuring united hearts and intentions; fellowship with like believers to gladden our heart; time within the Word of God to inform, encourage, inspire, and instruct. Every aspect of worship, and the previous list is not at all complete, should draw us nearer to the heart of God and should change our focus from ourselves to Him.
Throughout our week we tend to become preoccupied with many issues, some trivial and some that we deem to be vital. But as we engage in true worship that changes. A.W. Tozer said this about what is accomplished through worship: “We are called to an everlasting preoccupation with God.”
In Psalm 65:8 we read: The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
All of creation recognizes the wonder of God and how wonderful are the works of His hands. When we contemplate Him, consider His wonders, the Psalmist says that songs of joy cannot be contained but will “spring forth”. That is worship.
Worship well this day!
