Teach Me Lord 10-28-22

Good morning. I would like to share Psalm 86:11, which is I believe, a wonderful verse of scripture to remember. I will share it from a few translations:

Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.  English Standard Version (this is the most literal translation of the versions shared)

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. – NIV

Tell me where you want me to go and I will go there. May every fiber of my being unite in reverence to your name. – Living Bible

Train me, God, to walk straight; then I’ll follow your true path. Put me together, one heart and mind; then, undivided, I’ll worship in joyful fear. – The Message

We read this verse presented in ways from a very literal, word by word accurate translation, to quite wonderful attempts to capture the idea and truth that God’s Word provides. Each has merit. Each shares the common idea, which is a desire for God to teach us His truth and His way that we would learn to trust Him and to honor His name above all things.

If we desire for God to teach us about kindness we should pause and remember the ways God has showered us with kindness.

If we desire for God to teach us patience we should pause and consider how patient our Heavenly Father has been with us throughout our lives.

If we desire for God to teach us about forgiveness we should pause and give praise for the many, many times God has blessed us with a forgiveness that casts our sins away and remembers them no more.

When we desire for God to teach us the truth about grace, we need only to recognize how God has graciously blessed us, forgiven us, empowered us, befriended us, and stood by us no matter what.

When we pray the words of this verse, Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth, we need only to remember the love of God and the way He cares for us, and we see that the lesson is demonstrated in power and truth.

Learn well today.
