Transformed 8-22-22

Good morning. Seeds don’t look like much. A kernel of corn at least looks like corn and a pea looks like a pea, but even then, it is difficult to imagine the 8-9 foot tall stalk of corn or the climbing vine covered in pea pods when we look at the single seed. Other seeds make it even more difficult to visualize the outcome from their planting. Jesus spoke of the mustard seed, specifically the black mustard, which begins as a tiny seed but grows into a plant over nine feet tall. He used this seed to demonstrate how the Kingdom of God may begin small in a person but will grow in power, beauty, and function.

What we are now is not what we will be. We are like seeds that are planted, waiting for the time when we will grow, blossom, and mature, becoming what our maker has intended for us to be. The seed doesn’t look like much, and we may not think that we look much like one who is worthy of heaven’s glory. But there is an incredible future that awaits those who are nurtured and grow up in the Spirit of God.

We read the truth of this in Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

While it is difficult to see the handiwork of the divine as we consider who and what we are at this moment, we need to remember that we are as of yet still like seeds. Seeds buried in the earth, waiting for the moment of transformation which will bring about the beauty of our eternal form.

This will all come about within the power and glory of Jesus. It is He who will transform our lowly physical self into the likeness of His glory.

Every seed is defined by its’ potential, the plant it may become, and the fruitful yield that is waiting for the time of maturity.

Praise God that what is in store for us is so much more, so much greater, than what we now see! Jesus Himself will transform each one of us to be like Him in glory.

Maranatha! — Come Lord Jesus!
