Every Perfect Gift 3-12-22

Good morning. What a sight they must have been. Led by a carpenter, it was an odd group. There were fishermen, a tax collector, a political activist, a thief, and a bunch of other guys of whom we weren’t given much of an idea of what they used to do for a living. But now, all that was done. Now, they followed the carpenter. Now, they were at His side, doing His bidding, eagerly trying to learn the truth.

It was a rough looking bunch. They were common men with common clothing marching down the road with an obvious purpose. But what was that purpose?

They all were seekers. They all were caught up in hope. They all were seeking that perfect gift from God, the promised Messiah, the Anointed One who would bring with Him the New Age. They all had their own questions and their own ideas, but they all thought that Jesus had the needed answers.

Not much has changed. We continue to be seekers, continue to be hopeful, continue to look to God for His promised gifts. We, just as was true for those first 12 disciples, are a motley bunch with wildly different backgrounds joined by mutual needs. We continue to need the Messiah.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:15

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10

Praise God for His indescribable gift. Our needs haven’t changed, nor has His answer. It is all about Jesus.
