Here’s A Weird Thought (with implications for the Jehovah’s Witness) 2-18-22

Good morning. I know, me suggesting that I would like to share a weird thought isn’t exactly earth-shaking news, but have you considered this: Did Jesus have a belly button? Now wait, before you start yelling at me, remember who we are talking about: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5

As we continue to read in the gospel of John’s first chapter it becomes very clear that the One of whom these words are written is Jesus Christ. He was there at the beginning with God, and in fact, “He was God.” As God, all things that have been created were created by Him and through Him. He is life and He is light.

So, did that Jesus, the Creator of the universe Jesus, have a belly button? Of course not. Not while He was our Creator God of the heavenly realm. But when we are talking about Jesus, the Son of God who came into the world, of course He did!

God gives us more insight into His coming into the world in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved us, all of us, the good-the bad-and the ugly of us, that He chose to give us the gift of Himself, the gift of Jesus, to pay the price and to rescue us from our sin. That Jesus most certainly had a belly button.

If any of this seems a bit unclear, please consider the most succinct and yet perfect proclamation of the reality of Jesus Christ from Colossians 2:8-9 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form…

Do not be deceived, not by the traditions and ideas of people, nor by the schemes of Satan, Jesus Christ lived among mankind 100% in bodily form. It is equally true that Jesus, at all times, is the One in whom all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.

Jesus is God, and even for that time when He did indeed have a belly button, He never ceased to be fully God.

I received a letter recently that was very nice. It was very polite actually, and although it didn’t say so, it was sent from a local member of the local Jehovah’s Witness group. Perhaps you have recently received such a letter? The religious affiliation of the sender was not given, although the tone of the letter seemed to be very complimentary of Jesus and of Jehovah. The letter asked me to respond by calling the phone number that was included. I am very sure that if I were to call that number the person who answered the call would be anxious to come to our home to better explain what he or she perceived to be the “facts” and “truths” of Jesus.

If you received this letter, I hope that you immediately threw it into the recycling bin. If you will receive this letter in the future, I hope for the same response. Do not, under any circumstances, invite Satan or his spokesperson into your home.

Do you think that I am overstating things? Am I being a little too radical or narrow minded to refer to their offer as inviting Satan in for coffee? With all my heart I would tell you that I am not.

Perhaps you believe that you are the person who will be able to “talk some sense” into that person who comes into your home. No, you are not. It is not up to you to convert those who speak blasphemy regarding Jesus Christ, and are therefore representatives of the evil one. God’s instruction to His people has always been very clear on this subject: “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean through them: I am the Lord your God!” Leviticus 19:31

Am I comparing those poor lost souls who have been caught up in the lies of Satan in what we know as the “Jehovah’s Witness” heresy with the witches, mediums, and worshippers of the dead that God commanded against in the Old Testament? Yes, I am. They serve the same master, and their message is just as spiritually deadly.

When they send you a letter, throw it away immediately. If they knock on your door send them away immediately. Do not take their materials, and do not give them $5.00. Close the door. If that feels rude to you, feel free to tell them to fully consider Colossians 2:8-9 as the door is closing. Do not invite Satan in or engage him in conversation.

So, did Jesus have a belly button? Absolutely, because when He was among us, He was fully man. Does having a belly button mean that He was ever less than fully God? NO! Any other answer is from the lips of the master liar.
