worship today, I would like to remind you that one of the amazing outcomes of true worship is to bring you, the worshiper, into an intimate closeness with God in His fulness. I recall the wonderful old hymn that reminds us of the voice of Jesus, which is so compelling when we are joined with Him in heartfelt worship.
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals He’s waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”
O for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”
Come home, come home (come home)
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”
Please consider the following, which is a product of my imagination but, I hope, can be a thought to consider as we draw near to the Lord in worship. What would Jesus like to say to us as we prepare our spirits to join with Him in worship today?
Softly and tenderly, I announce My presence. Shimmering hues of My radiant light tap gently at your consciousness seeking your attention. Though I possess all the power of heaven and earth I will be infinitely gentle and tender with you today. The weaker you are at this moment, the more gently I will approach you. Let your weakness throw open your heart’s door, providing an invitation to My Presence. Whenever you feel weak or inadequate, remember that I am your ever-present help.
Place your hope in Me, and you will be shielded from depression and self-pity. My hope is like a golden cord, sent to connect you to heaven. The more you cling to this golden cord, the more I will bear the weight of your burdens. In that way I will make your own load lighter. Heaviness of heart or soul is not of My Kingdom. Cling to My hope and allow My radiant light to enfold you, no matter how deep your darkness may feel. I remind you of these truths because I love you.
Softly and tenderly, Jesus is calling. He is calling for you and for me. He is calling for all who will listen and respond to His tender and compassionate voice. Our Lord eagerly awaits joining with you in worship, for it is His desire be one with you.
Worship well and let the beautiful light of His glory shine upon you!
