Thought for Day (5-1-2021)

Good morning. It is a beautiful Saturday, a day of joy, and a day of celebration. If you are wondering why I am suggesting such lofty ideals for the day, this afternoon Ruth Anne and Cornie are being united in marriage. It is a day of celebration indeed!

Please imagine God’s voice speaking to you right now to remind you of His glory and His care:

I am your God of both intricate detail and overflowing abundance. When you entrust the details of your life to Me, you will be pleased and surprised at the ways in which I answer you. It is My joy to hear your prayers, I take great pleasure in them, so never hesitate to come to Me. I love you. I know that as you become more comfortable in your prayers with Me, you are becoming more closely joined to Me. I love that truth. For as you draw near to Me your faith is strengthened and your hope is enhanced.

You know that I am infinite in all My ways. My resources are beyond your imagining and abundance is at the very heart of My being. Come to Me in joyful expectation of blessing. Come to Me to receive what you need—and often much more than you have dreamed. My love for you is your certainty of provision, and even my discipline will be revealed as a blessing. I delight in caring for My loved ones, and you are greatly loved! Come to Me with an open heart, mind, and spirit and discover ever greater joy.

As I imagine God’s voice of joyful reassurance, I am also reminded of Psalm 36:7-9

 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!

The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

 8  They feast on the abundance of your house,

and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

 9  For with you is the fountain of life;

in your light do we see light.

God’s love is precious. In all of the universe, what could be worth more than the tender love of our Father God? His love is steadfast. God’s love does not come and go, it is not dependent upon circumstances or even on our reaction. God’s love is an absolute in our lives and nothing we do or say will ever diminish His love.

As his children, we take shelter in Him. I have seen mother hens spread their wings for their chicks to take shelter. It may be a moment of perceived danger, or simply an act to draw them close to keep them warm. She spreads her wings and clucks in a special way, and all her kids come running! God is our comfort, our rampart, our warrior, and our keeper. He calls us into His protective warmth.

God’s abundance is beyond our imagining. What is waiting for us when gather in God’s presence? There will be no fear, no sorrow, no worry, no pain, and no want. I cannot fully comprehend what the promise of “drinking from the river of God’s delights” will mean to us. What will be a delight to God? Speaking as a father, I can tell you that few things are more delightful than seeing your children “light up” in unexpected joy. Whatever the occasion or cause, there is nothing like seeing delight in their faces.

It is from God that the river of life will flow to us. It is a river that brings eternity. It is a promise of life as it was intended to be lived. It is a life unmarred by the destructiveness of sin. Life with God, leaving every barrier far behind.

in your light do we see light.

Isn’t that an incredible thought? In God’s light will we see true light. What is the light we are now seeing, and how does it compare to God’s light? I have no idea. But this we know from Revelation 21:23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

When we are with God, as a part of the new Jerusalem and citizens of heaven, He is our light.

May God bless your day and may your prayers bring you closer to His heart.
