Good morning. I would like to have us consider three well known scriptures today, and to join those scriptures with some thoughts of prayer.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Dear Lord Jesus, I would like to bring my burdens to you today. I have quite a few, and I have gotten used to carrying them, but I am growing more and more tired. Oh, Lord Jesus, I need you to take the burdens from me so that I can live in greater joy and praise for you. Amen.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Lord, I come to you today with too many concerns on my mind. I can’t seem to get free of them and they are robbing me of sleep. I need your peace, Lord. I need your peace to stand guard over my heart and mind. Our enemy is beating me up every day with worries, and I know that this isn’t your will for my life. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving me your peace, and for your peace to stand guard over my spirit. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. Oh, my Lord and my God, I worship you in my prayers today. There are people who are dear to me that do not know you. I pray for each of them Lord. I pray that you will show me better ways to reveal your love and your promise of life to them. And I pray with thanksgiving Lord, because you, in your infinite patience, are giving them more time to make the right choice. Thank you, Lord, and please, help me shine your light of love today. Amen.
Your prayers will be your own, but perhaps these scriptures will give us something to consider today, and perhaps clarify some reasons for prayer.
