11-23-23 Thank You Lord

Good morning. I pray that your day of thanks will be blessed with safety in travel, joy in fellowship, peace around your table, and the love of our Lord ruling in your heart throughout it all.

It is a day of family, friends, food, and yes, some of us will throw in a bit of football.

Please, do not lose sight of the true meaning of this day. This is a day set aside to say “Thank You Lord” for all of the blessings that flow into our lives.

Thank You Lord for the peace we share and the peace we long for. In a world that is filled with unrest, your peace surpasses expectations and understanding.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

Thank You Lord for the joy that sustains us when days feel long or dreary. In You we have life abundant and life eternal and with such promises our joy is sustained.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” Psalm 28:7

Thank You Lord for the security we enjoy. We know that You are greater, Your love is more powerful, Your will absolute and without equal. When You call us Your own, it is a truth that is eternal.

“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’” Jonah 2:9

Thank You Lord for Your bounty and Your blessings. You care for us in ways we do not understand, and you enrich us in ways that we do not always realize.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”       2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank You Lord for Your love. Why do You love us the way that You do? It seems like a worthy question. We know the truth of our failures, and we know that You know them even more than we do. But You love us without condition or restraint. Thank You Lord for such incredible love.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34

We give praise to the Lord, thanksgiving lifted up in His Holy Name.
